The November problem

Every parent knows the moment. You bought the backpack in August. By November the zipper has separated, the strap seam is fraying and your kid is carrying it by the top handle like a briefcase. So you buy another one.

We got tired of it. In 2021 we started buying and dissecting the packs our own kids were destroying, looking for the point of failure. It was almost never the fabric — it was the stitching at the strap anchor, the zipper gauge and the unreinforced base.

What we changed

So we specified around those three failures. Every BacktoClass pack uses bar-tacked strap anchors, a #8 or heavier coil zipper and a double-layer base panel. It costs us more per unit. It also means we can put a two-year warranty on a school backpack, which almost nobody in this category does.

How we operate

We're a small, family-run team in Columbus, Ohio. We hold our own inventory in two US warehouses so orders leave the same day and returns come back to a real address. We don't drop-ship from overseas and we don't run fake countdown timers on stock levels.

Prices are what they are year-round. The back-to-school sale is a genuine seasonal promotion with a real end date, not a permanent banner.

Where we're going
